We are delighted to announce support for liquid staking token (LST) restaking on EigenLayer through Safe and the Kiln dApp.

You will have the opportunity to restake during the EigenLayer restaking window in which LST deposits are uncapped. This window is from February 5th to 9th, starting at 12 PM Pacific Time.

Start accumulating EigenLayer restaking points (and later restaking rewards) by depositing LST into EigenLayer pools through Kiln, free of any fees.

How to restake your Liquid Staking Tokens

We’ve made the LST restaking process straightforward. Just follow these simple steps to restake LST in less than a minute:

  1. Navigate to the Kiln dApp
  2. In the “Restake” tab, select the LST you hold and the amount you wish to restake.
  3. Accept the terms and conditions, click “Restake”, and confirm the transaction.

Upon confirming the transaction, your tokens will be deposited into the EigenLayer smart contract. Once EigenLayer and AVS launch on the mainnet in March, you will have the ability to delegate to an AVS operator to earn additional rewards.

You can track your total deposited amount and your restaked points under the rewards tab.

Available Liquid Staking Tokens for restaking include:

  • stETH from Lido
  • rETH from Rocket Pool
  • cbETH from Coinbase
  • wBETH from Binance
  • osETH from Stakewise
  • swETH from Swell
  • ankrETH from Ankr
  • EthX from Stader
  • oETH from Origin ETH
  • sfrxETH from Frax, and
  • mETH from Mantle

A step back, what is EigenLayer?

Launched in June 2023, EigenLayer introduces a groundbreaking innovation to Ethereum: restaking. This allows users to utilise their staked ETH across multiple protocols beyond Ethereum. EigenLayer enables liquid staking tokens and staked ETH to contribute to crypto-economic security for protocols outside of Ethereum, bringing additional rewards and participating in slashing agreements within the EigenLayer protocol.

EigenLayer is currently in Stage 1 of its mainnet, having recently introduced a limited restaking window for stakers to participate. The upcoming window, scheduled from February 5 to February 9, is dedicated to liquid staking tokens and is uncapped, offering an opportunity to gather restaked points for a future airdrop exclusively for LST holders.

Looking ahead

After introducing restaking for our Enterprise customers in January, we are now preparing to introduce EigenLayer restaking for all Kiln users. Starting with Native Staking (32+ETH) at the end of February, and extending to Staking Pool users with any amount of ETH, everyone will soon have the option to participate in the EigenLayer network. This will allow restakers to earn additional rewards on their collateral.

In Q2 2024, Eigenlayer plans to launch support for AVSs, allowing operators such as Kiln to secure additional  services alongside Ethereum validators. This will enable restakers to delegate to an AVS operator such as Kiln to earn additional rewards for helping secure these AVSes.

We look forward to supporting customers wishing to restake and embark on their journey with EigenLayer!
