Last month, over 80 blockchain and DeFi enthusiasts, builders, and innovators gathered at Kiln's offices in Paris for an intense two-day hackathon. The event pushed the boundaries of staking, DeFi, and onchain analytics, showcasing groundbreaking projects leveraging Kiln's products and highlighting the power of collaboration and innovation in the digital assets ecosystem.

Participants tackled real-world challenges, from tokenized validators and data visualization solutions to ERC-4626 tooling—building solutions that could redefine staking and DeFi. The hackathon fostered creativity, technical excellence, and problem-solving, with teams racing against the clock to present their best work. After 48 hours of building, 11 teams were rewarded, with prizes of up to €1,500 per team.

Among all the projects, the following teams stood out:

  • Fous du Bus created a tokenized validator marketplace, allowing users to skip entry and exit queues by purchasing a validator directly, as well as providing the ability to buy and sell bundles of validators.
  • Cryptoforge developed a project to manage the risk profile of a specific, dedicated stablecoin cross-chain.
  • A team from Angers built an analysis tool leveraging Kiln Connect to compare the staking performances of different providers and validators across various timeframes.
  • The SOS team used the Kiln Widget to tackle currency risk in DeFi by introducing Hedged Vaults, an extension to Kiln DeFi vaults that enables deposits from any asset while allowing users to choose a stablecoin to hedge their currency exposure

For the occasion, a panel of industry experts, including Mélodie Lamarque from Leadblock Partners, PyratzLabs CEO Bilal El Alamy, and CoinShares’ Research Associate Luke Nolan—among others—joined the Kiln team as jury members, providing mentorship and guidance to participants.

The Kiln Hackathon was a testament to the incredible talent and ingenuity in the digital asset ecosystem. As we look ahead, many of these projects will continue to evolve, bringing their ideas from prototype to real-world implementation, and some participants may even join the ranks of Kilners.

Congratulations to all participants on their dedication and creativity. Stay tuned for more hackathons and opportunities to work with Kiln!
